Fabrizio Longo, the esteemed director of Audi Italia since 2013, tragically lost his life while climbing alone on a via ferrata towards Cima Payer in the Adamello mountain range, located between the provinces of Brescia and Trento.
The incident occurred at an altitude of approximately 3,000 meters when Longo, an experienced mountaineer, fell 200 meters, likely due to a loss of balance.
The alarm was raised by a fellow climber who witnessed the fall, prompting a swift response from the Alpine Rescue team based in Pinzolo.
Despite their rapid arrival via helicopter, the medical team could only confirm Longo's death upon reaching the site.
Born in Rimini in 1962, Longo had a distinguished career in the automotive industry, having held significant roles at Fiat, Lancia, BMW Italia, and Toyota Italia before leading Audi Italia.
His passion for the mountains was reflected in his professional life, as he strengthened Audi Italia's connection with mountain environments and sustainability initiatives, particularly in the Dolomites.
