A tragic accident claimed the life of 26-year-old Giulia Vanossi, an experienced climber from Ponte Lambro, Como, during a climbing expedition in the Val Camonica region.
On August 9, while scaling the challenging terrain near Bivacco Macherio in Cimbergo, she fell 350 meters to her death.
Despite the efforts of her two companions, who managed to call for help while clinging to the rock face, the rescue operation was hampered by poor weather and difficult terrain.
The Alpine Rescue team, using a helicopter, faced significant challenges due to low visibility and the area's rugged landscape.
Eventually, the two surviving climbers were safely guided down, while Giulia's body was recovered and taken to a local hospital.
This incident marks the eighth fatality in the Brescia mountains this year, highlighting the inherent risks of mountain climbing in the region.
