Published: 2024-08-31

Tragedy struck the Italian Alps as two separate accidents claimed lives and left one person critically injured.

On August 31, a 62-year-old mountaineer from Rimini fell approximately 200 meters to his death near Cima Payer in the Adamello group, Trentino.

Despite swift emergency response, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a separate incident, a German hiker lost her life after tripping and falling from a rock ledge on the Altavia number 2 trail near Monte Rosetta, Belluno.

Meanwhile, a 64-year-old cyclist from Feltre suffered severe injuries after losing control of his e-bike and plunging over 50 meters on a military road.

He was airlifted to a hospital in Belluno for treatment.

These incidents highlight the inherent risks of outdoor activities in mountainous regions.
