A tragic accident occurred on Saturday, August 25, in the Biellese mountains, claiming the life of a 30-year-old man.

The incident took place on the Colma di Mombarone in Donato, Biella province, where the man fell approximately 50 meters to his death.

Despite the swift response from emergency services, including the Alpine Rescue and the 118 emergency team, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier in the day, he had separated from his companions at the Mombarone Refuge to descend alone.

His body was later discovered by the refuge manager, who is also an Alpine Rescue technician, about 200 meters from the trail.

The recovery operation was complicated by dense fog in the area, which may have obscured the danger and contributed to the accident.

The exact circumstances of the fall remain under investigation.
