A tragic accident occurred on the Pyramides Calcaires near Mont Blanc, claiming the life of 41-year-old Marco Peraldo Dan from Tollegno, Biella.

He was descending with a fellow climber when they were caught in a thunderstorm and hail.

The two were not secured to each other at the time, and during the descent, Marco fell approximately 200 meters.

His climbing partner, a 51-year-old from Piedmont, raised the alarm after realizing Marco was missing.

Rescue teams from the Valdostano Alpine Rescue and the Guardia di Finanza were dispatched to the scene, where they began recovery and investigation efforts.

The incident highlights the dangers of climbing in adverse weather conditions.
