A tragic accident occurred on the Mont Blanc massif, claiming the life of a young French mountaineer.
The incident took place on the Colle Eccles, near Courmayeur, at an altitude of approximately 4,000 meters.
The climber, along with two companions, had set out from the Eccles bivouac to ascend the Central Pillar of Freney.
During the climb, the victim slipped on a loose stone and fell, as the group was not roped together at that moment.
The two companions, who were unharmed, are being questioned by the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza to determine the accident's cause.
The victim's family has been notified, and the body has been transported to the mortuary in Courmayeur for official identification.
This incident adds to a series of recent mountaineering tragedies in the region.
