A tragic workplace accident claimed the life of 52-year-old Maurizio Mazzeo at an Amsa waste management facility in Milan.

The incident occurred on December 24 at the Via Zama site, where Mazzeo was crushed between his waste collection truck and a parked car.

Emergency responders, including firefighters and medical teams, arrived quickly but were unable to save him.

Preliminary investigations suggest the truck may have moved due to a failure to engage the handbrake or gear, exacerbated by a slight slope.

Amsa, the company managing Milan's waste services, expressed deep condolences to Mazzeo's family and pledged full cooperation with authorities to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Mazzeo was a resident of Cernusco sul Naviglio.
