Tragic Quarry Accident Claims Life in Brescia

Published: 2024-08-10

Fabrizio Zanetti, a 50-year-old co-owner of a marble quarry in Nuvolera, Brescia, has tragically passed away following a workplace accident.

On August 6, while operating an excavator, Zanetti was struck by a dislodged marble slab, which crushed his legs despite his attempt to escape.

He was immediately airlifted to Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, where he underwent emergency surgeries.

Unfortunately, his injuries were too severe, and he succumbed to them after several days.

The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns in the marble extraction industry, particularly in regions known for their global exports, such as Botticino marble.

This tragedy adds to the growing list of workplace fatalities, underscoring the urgent need for improved safety measures in hazardous work environments.
