A devastating explosion at the Toyota Material Handling plant near Bologna has resulted in the deaths of two workers and injuries to eleven others.

The incident occurred when an industrial compressor exploded, causing a structural collapse in the warehouse area.

The explosion was so powerful that it was heard up to 10 kilometers away, shattering nearby windows.

At the time, around 300 employees were on site.

The plant, known for producing forklifts, has faced previous safety concerns, with workers planning a strike for improved safety measures.

Emergency services, including helicopters and fire brigades, responded swiftly, and investigations into the cause are underway, with potential charges of manslaughter being considered.
