A massive fire broke out at the Inalca meat processing plant in Reggio Emilia, Italy, during the night of February 10-11. The blaze, visible from miles away, destroyed the 50,000-square-meter facility, which employs 400 workers.
Firefighters from multiple cities worked tirelessly for hours to contain the flames, which were first reported after a loud explosion.
Nearby areas were evacuated, and residents were advised to keep windows closed due to the acrid smoke.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and initial air quality tests showed pollutant levels within safe limits.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, with no signs of foul play so far.
Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation, focusing on the impact on workers and the supply chain.
