Francesca Colombo, a 62-year-old woman from Legnano, tragically passed away at the Barone Romeo Hospital in Patti, Sicily, after being misdiagnosed with a simple indigestion.
Initially visiting the hospital with severe abdominal pain and vomiting, she was sent home with a gastro-protective medication.
Her condition worsened, leading to a second hospital visit where an intestinal obstruction was discovered too late, resulting in her death.
The incident has prompted an investigation by the Patti Prosecutor's Office, with an autopsy ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
This case has drawn attention to the hospital, already under scrutiny for previous medical mishaps.
Francesca's husband, Giuseppe Balletta, has filed a formal complaint, seeking accountability for what he describes as medical negligence.
