A one-year-old girl tragically passed away at her home in Moconesi, Genova, after being discharged from the Lavagna pediatric emergency room.

The child, who had been suffering from abdominal pain, was initially treated and sent home as her condition appeared stable.

However, her health deteriorated rapidly the following morning, leading to her untimely death despite emergency interventions, including an air ambulance.

The Genova Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to determine the cause of death, with a focus on potential congenital malformations.

An autopsy has been ordered, and the hospital's clinical records have been seized for further examination.

The Gaslini Institute, which managed the hospital, expressed deep condolences to the family.
