A 22-year-old woman, Agata Margaret Spada from Lentini, Sicily, tragically died following complications from a rhinoplasty procedure in Rome.
The surgery, which she discovered through TikTok, took place on November 4th at a clinic in the Eur district.
Shortly after anesthesia was administered, Agata experienced severe reactions, leading to her hospitalization at Sant’Eugenio Hospital, where she passed away on November 7th.
Authorities are investigating the clinic's licensing and the medical qualifications of the staff, including the owner and his two sons, who are all surgeons but not specialized in otolaryngology.
The investigation is also examining whether proper pre-surgery checks for allergies were conducted.
The case has raised concerns about the safety and regulation of cosmetic procedures advertised on social media platforms.
