An 8-year-old girl from Villanova Monteleone tragically passed away at the Alghero Civil Hospital following complications from a tonsil surgery.

The procedure, performed last Thursday in the Otorhinolaryngology department, initially appeared successful, with doctors reporting a normal recovery.

The girl even communicated with her school friends and teachers in the days after the operation.

However, her condition suddenly worsened yesterday, reportedly due to a hemorrhage.

Despite the medical team's efforts, they were unable to save her life.

The Sassari Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation to determine the cause of death and any potential responsibilities.
