A 15-year-old boy lost his life and six others were injured in a devastating car accident near Catanzaro, Italy.

The crash occurred on the state road 109 in Piterà, involving a Lancia Y and an Audi A4. Early investigations suggest high speed may have caused one vehicle to veer into the opposite lane, despite the 50 km/h speed limit.

Emergency responders worked to free the victims from the wreckage, but the boy could not be saved.

The injured were rushed to the hospital, and their conditions are reportedly stable.

Authorities have ordered alcohol and drug tests for all involved, as well as an autopsy for the deceased.

The accident caused significant traffic delays in the area.
