Severe Weather Hits Italy: Floods and Snow

Published: 2024-11-11

Italy is facing severe weather conditions with heavy rainfall causing floods in the Acese area, leading to road closures and emergency interventions.

The torrential rains have been described as a "water bomb," overflowing the AciPlatani stream in Acireale.

Meanwhile, the northern regions, including Valle d'Aosta and western Piedmont, are bracing for possible snowfall at altitudes of 1000-1200 meters.

An orange alert has been issued for the northern Ionian coast of Sicily, with strong winds and thunderstorms expected.

Schools have been closed in 37 municipalities in Messina and Catania due to the adverse weather.

The unstable weather pattern is expected to continue, affecting both the southern and northern parts of the country.
