Italy Braces for Cyclone and Heavy Rains

Published: 2025-03-09

Italy is set to experience a dramatic weather shift starting Sunday evening.

While the North and Central regions currently enjoy spring-like warmth, with temperatures reaching 21°C, the South is already facing heavy rains and storms, particularly in Sicily and Calabria.

A powerful cyclone, originating from the Franco-Iberian region, will bring widespread rain and snow across the country for at least eight days.

The North will see intense rainfall and up to a meter of snow in the Alps above 1000 meters.

Meanwhile, the South will continue to face storms, with Sardinia and Sicily under weather alerts.

Despite the wet conditions, temperatures will remain mild, ranging from 13°C to 15°C.

The situation is expected to improve only after March 15.
