Italy is bracing for a scorching weekend as the heatwave, dubbed Caronte, sweeps across the country.
On Sunday, July 28, six cities, including Florence and Rome, will face a 'red alert' for extreme heat, while 13 others, including Milan and Brescia, will be under an 'orange alert.
' Temperatures are expected to soar, with some areas in Emilia Romagna nearing 39°C.
Meteorologist Mattia Gussoni warns that this heatwave could last for at least ten days, bringing tropical nights with temperatures above 25°C.
The sea temperatures are also unusually high, reaching 30°C in some coastal areas, raising concerns about the impact on marine life.
As the heat intensifies, residents are advised to prepare for the hottest days of 2024 so far.
