Italy is facing an intense heatwave as the African anticyclone 'Caronte' sweeps across the country.
Temperatures are expected to soar, potentially making this the hottest period of summer 2024. Forecasts predict peaks of 38-41°C in central regions, with southern areas like Sicily and Puglia possibly reaching 42-43°C.
The heat will be particularly intense on Thursday and Friday, with major cities like Florence and Rome at risk of hitting 40°C.
Adding to the discomfort, high humidity levels will create sultry conditions, especially during tropical nights when temperatures won't drop below 20°C.
While some Alpine and Apennine areas may experience brief thunderstorms, most of Italy will see clear skies and strong solar radiation.
