Italy is bracing for a prolonged heatwave as the African anticyclone continues to dominate the weather, bringing scorching temperatures that could exceed 40°C in southern regions and major islands.
Meteorologist Lorenzo Tedici warns of intense heat, particularly in cities, leading to tropical nights where temperatures remain above 20°C.
While northern areas may experience some relief with thunderstorms and cooler air, the central and southern parts of the country will remain under the oppressive heat.
The situation is exacerbated by rising sea temperatures, which have reached levels comparable to the Gulf of Mexico, causing environmental concerns.
As August progresses, the heat is expected to persist, with little chance of significant rainfall, raising fears of drought, especially in northern Italy.
