Italian skiing champion Federica Brignone has suffered a serious injury during the Italian Giant Slalom Championships in Val di Fassa.

Leading after the first run, Brignone fell during the second, fracturing her tibia and fibula.

The accident occurred as she misjudged a turn, resulting in a violent fall.

She was airlifted to Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento and later transferred to Milan for surgery.

This injury marks a dramatic end to a stellar season, where she claimed her second overall World Cup title.

Recovery is expected to take six months, raising concerns about her participation in next year’s Winter Olympics.
