A tragic weekend unfolded in the Valtellina mountains as two climbers lost their lives in separate incidents.
Federica Tonoli, a 30-year-old doctor from Masate, fell to her death while descending Monte Forno, near the Italy-Switzerland border.
Despite the swift arrival of rescue teams, she could not be saved.
Her three companions, though unharmed, were left in shock.
This incident followed the death of Ermanno Molin Pradel, a 57-year-old architect, who fell from Cima Cigola the previous day.
Both accidents highlight the dangers of high-altitude hiking, even for experienced climbers, as treacherous terrains and steep descents pose significant risks.
