Bologna Remembers 44 Years After Bombing

Published: 2024-08-02

On August 2, 2024, Bologna will commemorate the 44th anniversary of the tragic bombing at the Central Station, which claimed 85 lives and injured over 200 people.

The memorial event will begin with a procession at 8:30 AM from Piazza Nettuno, a change from previous years due to construction work.

Key speakers will include Paolo Bolognesi, representing the victims' families, and various political figures, including Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and Bologna's Mayor Matteo Lepore.

The event will feature emotional testimonies from survivors and family members, highlighting the ongoing struggle for justice and recognition of the attack's fascist roots.

Traffic will be restricted in several areas to accommodate the memorial, ensuring a respectful atmosphere as the city remembers its lost citizens.
