US Tariffs Hit Italian Exports

The United States has announced a 20% tariff on European products, a move that has sparked criticism from Italian industries.

The Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium, representing one of Italy's iconic exports, called the decision "senseless and damaging.

" This follows a similar tariff in 2019, which raised prices and hurt sales.

Giuseppe Conte, leader of the 5-Star Movement, criticized Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for being unprepared for this economic challenge.

He argued that abandoning the Belt and Road Initiative with China has limited Italy's export options.

The tariffs are expected to impact Italian businesses and workers significantly, creating economic uncertainty.
