Mattarella Defends Open Markets

Published: 2025-03-24

Italian President Sergio Mattarella has strongly criticized trade tariffs, emphasizing their negative impact on global markets and quality products.

Speaking at the "Agricoltura è" event in Rome, he highlighted the importance of open markets for peace and economic growth.

Mattarella argued that tariffs disrupt trust between nations and harm international collaboration.

He praised the European Union's strength in addressing such challenges calmly but firmly.

Reflecting on the EU's origins, he noted its success in fostering unity and stability since 1945. Mattarella also stressed the need for clear communication and warned against the overuse of acronyms, which can hinder effective expression.
