In a significant legal development, the Turin prosecutor's office has ordered the preventive seizure of assets worth €74.8 million.
This action is part of an investigation into the inheritance of Gianni Agnelli, involving his grandchildren John, Lapo, and Ginevra Elkann, along with accountant Gianluca Ferrero and Swiss notary Urs Robert Von Gruenigen.
The charges include tax fraud and defrauding the state.
The investigation, prompted by a complaint from Margherita Agnelli, suggests that Marella Caracciolo, who passed away in 2019, was actually residing in Italy since at least 2010, contrary to claims of Swiss residency.
This discrepancy allegedly led to significant tax evasion, with unpaid income taxes amounting to approximately €42.8 million and inheritance taxes exceeding €32 million.
The Elkann family's legal representatives have strongly denied the allegations, emphasizing that the seizure is merely procedural and does not imply guilt.
