In a sweeping operation against the 'ndrangheta in Brescia, Italian authorities have executed 25 precautionary measures and seized assets worth over 1.8 million euros.
Among those arrested are former Brescia city councilor Giovanni Acri and Sister Anna Donelli, who allegedly facilitated communication with imprisoned associates.
The operation, coordinated by the anti-mafia prosecutor's office, involved police, financial guards, and carabinieri conducting searches across several Italian provinces, including Brescia, Reggio Calabria, and Milan.
The group faces numerous charges, including extortion, arms and drug trafficking, and money laundering.
Investigators have also accused them of mafia-related electoral fraud.
This crackdown aims to dismantle the Tripodi clan's operations, which sought illicit financial gains and maintained their criminal reputation.
