The disappearance of 31-year-old Daniela Ruggi from Montefiorino, Modena, has taken a dramatic turn with the arrest of Domenico Lanza, known locally as "the sheriff.

" Lanza, who was the last person to see Ruggi before she vanished on September 18, was arrested for illegal possession of firearms.

During a TV broadcast, Lanza displayed intimate clothing he claimed belonged to Ruggi, found in his car.

Investigators have searched his home twice, uncovering four firearms, including modified weapons.

Lanza, who often hosted Ruggi at his home, is now under investigation for possible involvement in her disappearance.
