Tragic End to Missing Woman Case in Sardinia

Published: 2024-07-18

The search for Francesca Deidda, a 42-year-old woman missing since May from San Sperate, Sardinia, has come to a grim conclusion.

On July 18, remains believed to be Deidda's were discovered near the Roman bridge on the old Sardinian Eastern State Road.

The discovery follows earlier findings of her personal effects and blood traces in the area.

Igor Sollai, Deidda's 43-year-old husband, is currently in custody, charged with murder and concealment of a body.

Despite a four-hour interrogation, Sollai continues to deny any involvement.

The RIS (Scientific Investigations Department) of Cagliari is conducting on-site examinations, with an autopsy scheduled.

The community of San Sperate has expressed its condolences, with Mayor Fabrizio Madeddu saying, 'Goodbye Francesca, you'll soon be home.
