Memorial Honors Morandi Bridge Victims

Today, Genoa inaugurated the Memorial for the victims of the Morandi Bridge collapse, which occurred on August 14, 2018. Located under the new San Giorgio Bridge, the site features immersive exhibits, including a recreation of the tragic moment, and spaces dedicated to the 43 victims' families.

Architect Stefano Boeri emphasized its role in preserving memory and fostering accountability in a country prone to forgetting major tragedies.

Egle Possetti, representing the victims' families, called it a place of reflection and education for future generations.

Authorities highlighted the importance of vigilance and maintenance to prevent similar disasters.

The Memorial stands as a symbol of remembrance and a call for systemic change.
