Opposition parties in Italy have launched a nationwide signature campaign against the Calderoli bill on differentiated autonomy.
Leaders from the Democratic Party, Five Star Movement, and Green-Left Alliance set up stands in various cities to gather signatures for a referendum to repeal the law.
The campaign aims to collect 500,000 signatures as required by the Constitution.
Opposition leaders argue that the autonomy law would divide Italy and increase inequalities, particularly affecting healthcare, education, and public transportation.
The initiative has garnered support from labor unions, with CGIL Secretary General Maurizio Landini joining the effort.
The opposition faces the challenge of reaching a quorum in the eventual referendum, requiring participation from more than half of eligible voters.
