Venice's political landscape was shaken as Renato Boraso, the 56-year-old Mobility Councilor, was arrested on corruption charges.

The scandal also implicates Mayor Luigi Brugnaro, who is under investigation.

The probe, led by the Financial Guard, uncovered alleged bribery in public contract manipulations.

Boraso, a veteran politician and former Forza Italia member, has been a city councilor since 1997. The investigation extends to other city officials and businessmen, with 18 people involved and about 10 precautionary measures executed.

This political earthquake comes a decade after the infamous Mose scandal, once again putting Venice's administration under scrutiny.
