Venice's political landscape is in turmoil as Mayor Luigi Brugnaro faces scrutiny in a corruption investigation.

The probe centers on a €73,000 payment made to city councilor Renato Boraso for the purchase of Palazzo Papadopoli by Singaporean tycoon Ching Chiat Kwong.

Boraso has resigned from his position as Mobility Councilor.

The scandal also implicates other officials and businessmen, with allegations of rigged contracts and kickbacks.

Despite mounting pressure, Brugnaro has refused to step down, stating he will address the situation in a September council meeting.

The case has sparked political debate and public protests in Venice.
