Turin-Lyon High-Speed Train Set for 2032

At the Teha Forum in Cernobbio, Italy's Transport Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini announced that the first high-speed train between Turin and Lyon is expected to start operations in 2032, provided everything goes as planned.

This 65-kilometer track is a joint project between Italy and France.

Salvini expressed pride in Italy's adherence to the timeline, noting that not all partners have managed to keep pace.

Meanwhile, tensions persist in the Val Clarea area, where activists opposed to the project have been protesting, including setting off fireworks and damaging security barriers.

Salvini also discussed the broader context of transportation infrastructure, emphasizing that the Green Deal should not be about banning traditional engines but offering new operational opportunities.

He highlighted that Italy is on track with other major projects, such as the Brenner Tunnel, compared to its Austrian counterparts.
