A tragic accident occurred at the Rubiera freight yard in Reggio Emilia, where a Mercitalia train driver was struck and killed by a passing train.

The incident happened around 8:40 PM, leading to the suspension of the Milan-Bologna railway line.

Initial investigations suggest that the driver, who had just finished his shift, was walking along the tracks and may have gotten too close, resulting in the fatal accident.
