A devastating gas explosion occurred in Gallio, Vicenza, after a gas pipe was accidentally severed during fiber optic installation.

The explosion led to the collapse of a three-story building, trapping 72-year-old retired doctor Luigi Rossato under the rubble.

His son, Michele, managed to escape with minor burns, along with their dog.

Despite immediate rescue efforts, Luigi Rossato's body was found the following morning.

The incident has prompted investigations to understand the exact cause, while the local community mourns the loss.
