A three-story building in the Monteverde district of Rome collapsed this morning following a suspected gas explosion.
The incident occurred around 8:30 AM on March 23, leaving the area in chaos.
Emergency responders, including firefighters and police, worked tirelessly to rescue a 50-year-old Scottish man trapped under the rubble.
He was stabilized and transported to Sant'Eugenio Hospital with severe burns covering 70% of his body and injuries to his lower limbs.
Residents described hearing a massive explosion and seeing smoke rise as authorities quickly sealed off the area.
Rescue operations continue cautiously due to the risk of further collapses, as officials ensure no one else remains trapped.
The situation remains under investigation.
