Sicily has been hit by severe weather, leading to the overflow of the Salso River in Licata, Agrigento.
The situation prompted urgent evacuations by the civil protection and fire brigade, who rescued residents trapped by rising waters.
The dramatic events unfolded as the river burst its banks, flooding streets and basements with mud.
Thanks to the swift response of the fire brigade, including helicopter rescues, no casualties were reported.
In response to the crisis, the regional government has declared a state of emergency, allocating €2.8 million for immediate relief efforts to address the dangers and restore normalcy.
