Carla Gatto, a 76-year-old writer and painter from Rovigo, passed away on February 14 after a sudden illness.

She was the grandmother of Giulia Cecchettin, tragically killed by her ex-boyfriend in 2023. Carla had been a pillar of strength for her family, supporting her son Gino in his fight against femicide and patriarchy.

Known for her compassion, she even expressed empathy for the family of her granddaughter’s killer.

Carla dedicated her art and writing to Giulia, keeping her memory alive.

Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who admired her resilience and humanity.
