In a landmark verdict, the Court of Assizes in Milan sentenced Alessandro Impagnatiello to life imprisonment for the murder of his pregnant partner, Giulia Tramontano.
The case, which has gripped Italy, saw Impagnatiello, a former barman, confess to the brutal killing of Tramontano, who was seven months pregnant at the time.
The court excluded the aggravating factor of trivial motives, but imposed three months of solitary confinement.
Giulia's mother, Loredana Femiano, has been a pillar of strength throughout the trial, emphasizing love over vengeance.
She poignantly stated, "Today we have not won; we have lost everything.
" The Tramontano family participated in a flash mob outside the courthouse, holding a banner in memory of Giulia and her unborn son, Thiago, advocating for an end to violence against women.
