Italy is reigniting its controversial plan to redirect migrants to Albania, despite legal and political challenges.
The Italian government has deployed the naval ship Libra near Lampedusa to screen and transfer eligible migrants to Albania.
This move follows a previous setback when the European Court of Justice ruled against Italy's criteria for defining 'safe' countries.
The plan aims to manage migration by sending non-vulnerable adult males from 'safe' countries, as per Italian law, to Albania.
However, this approach has faced criticism for its high costs and potential legal conflicts with EU regulations.
The initiative, seen by some as a political maneuver, continues to stir debate over its effectiveness and legality.
