Italy's healthcare system is grappling with staff shortages and declining interest in medical professions.
Opposition parties have criticized the government for insufficient funding, but Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has announced record investments to address these challenges.
By 2025, the national healthcare fund will reach €136.5 billion, with additional funds from the revised PNRR.
Meloni highlighted €1.3 billion for hospital upgrades and €750 million in new healthcare investments.
She also introduced a €30 million initiative to compensate non-medical specialists like pharmacists and psychologists.
To combat violence against healthcare workers, stricter penalties, including delayed arrests, have been implemented.
Meloni calls these measures a "small but great revolution" for the sector.
