The Governance Poll 2024, conducted by Noto Sondaggi for Il Sole 24 Ore, reveals a significant decline in popularity for most Italian mayors.
Michele Guerra of Parma leads the pack with 63% approval, followed by Gaetano Manfredi of Naples at 62%.
Notably, three out of four mayors experienced a drop in support compared to their election day results.
Among regional presidents, Massimiliano Fedriga of Friuli Venezia Giulia tops the list with 68% approval.
The poll, in its 20th year, surveyed 80 provincial capitals and regions with direct elections, highlighting a growing perception that regional presidents have more impactful roles in local governance and national advocacy.
