After 28 days of isolation due to severe flooding, the regional road to Cogne has reopened, allowing residents and tourists to access the area once again.

The flooding, which began on June 29, forced the evacuation of around 1,800 people and left approximately 700 vehicles stranded.

Many visitors, like Silvio Monaco, who has been coming to Cogne for 15 years, expressed relief at being able to return.

"We are very attached to this place," he said.

The reopening of the road comes with organized shuttle services to ensure safe transit, as some routes remain under repair.

Local businesses and residents are eager to recover from the disaster, which has impacted everyone in the community.
