Ursula von der Leyen has announced her proposed team for the new European Commission, aiming for a stronger, safer, and more competitive Europe.

The team, consisting of 40% women, includes six executive vice-presidents, such as Teresa Ribera from Spain and Henna Virkkunen from Finland.

Raffaele Fitto from Italy will serve as an executive vice-president responsible for cohesion policies.

The appointments, which follow extensive negotiations, must be approved by the European Parliament.

Von der Leyen emphasized that the commissioners represent Europe as a whole, not individual countries, in their mission to enhance competitiveness and decarbonization.
