On Sunday, a terrifying incident occurred on the Freccia nel Cielo cable car in Cortina d'Ampezzo, as a sudden electrical failure caused the cabin to detach violently from the Ra Valles station.
Approximately 30 tourists, mostly foreigners, were aboard when the cable car began to oscillate dangerously, creating a panic among passengers.
Fortunately, the emergency brake activated, preventing any serious injuries.
The incident unfolded around 4 PM during a severe thunderstorm, which had already caused disruptions to other lift operations earlier in the day.
After a tense wait, technicians resolved the issue, and by 8 PM, all passengers were safely returned to the ground.
Local officials confirmed that safety measures worked effectively, and the incident was attributed to a lightning strike that affected the electrical system.
