A tragic accident occurred on Monte Rosa's Castore peak, resulting in the death of one Spanish climber and injuries to four others.
The group of eight climbers, part of the "Spaghetti Tour," fell from a snow cornice at 4,061 meters due to poor visibility.
Initial reports suggested a snow avalanche, but rescuers later confirmed the fall was from a cornice collapse.
Harsh weather conditions hampered rescue efforts, forcing teams to approach on foot.
The injured were transported to Aosta for medical care, while others were taken to Cervinia for further investigation.
Authorities urge caution in the mountains due to unstable weather conditions.
