Lombardy is bracing for severe weather as a powerful storm system approaches, prompting authorities to issue a red alert for hydraulic and hydrogeological risks.
Heavy rainfall is expected, with some areas potentially receiving up to 160 mm in just 12 hours.
The regions most at risk include Valchiavenna, Valtellina, and the Orobie Bergamasche.
In response, high schools in Lecco and Bergamo will remain closed to ensure public safety.
Residents are urged to avoid flood-prone areas and secure loose objects outdoors.
The storm is anticipated to ease by Thursday evening, with improved conditions expected by Friday.
