Italy Braces for Polar Weather Swings

Published: 2024-12-22

Italy is set to experience dramatic weather changes as polar air masses sweep across the country.

While the north will enjoy mostly sunny and stable conditions during the Christmas period, temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with lows reaching -2 to -4°C in some areas.

Snowfall is likely in the Alps above 1000 meters, accompanied by strong winds in mountainous regions.

Meanwhile, central and southern Italy could face snowstorms and colder weather due to the arrival of polar air from Northern Europe.

Coastal areas may see heavy rains and strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 100 km/h.

Despite the turbulent start, high pressure is expected to bring calmer weather by Christmas, offering a respite for holiday celebrations.
