The Holy Door of the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome was opened on Sunday morning, marking the third such event for the Jubilee 2025. Cardinal Baldo Reina led the ceremony in place of Pope Francis, who was absent due to health concerns.
The event, attended by around 2,000 faithful, emphasized themes of hope, unity, and compassion.
In his homily, Cardinal Reina called for solidarity with those facing hardships and urged the faithful to embody mercy and justice.
The symbolic act of families crossing the Holy Door highlighted the mission of fostering fraternity in a world marked by division and suffering.
The Jubilee celebrations will continue with further Holy Door openings in other Roman basilicas in the coming days.
